Description
The American Gold Eagle is an official gold bullion coin of the United States, authorised under the Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985. This coin was first introduced by the U.S. Mint in 1986 as a response to the increasing demand for national bullion coins. The American Gold Eagle is available in four denominations: 1/10 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1 oz, each with a corresponding legal face value of $5, $10, $25, and $50, respectively.
The obverse side of the coin features an effigy of Liberty, with the date located to the right. The reverse side features a bald eagle’s head facing left, accompanied by the country name and motto at the top, and the denomination and amount of gold below. The 2024 1 oz American Gold Eagle Coin is made of 22-carat gold (91.67% pure gold) and weighs a total of 1.0909 oz (33.93 grams).
