Description
Gold sovereigns are British gold coins with a face value of £1. As legal tender in the UK, gold sovereigns are exempt from Capital Gains Tax, and all investment gold in the UK is VAT-free. Modern gold sovereigns have been produced since 1817 and weigh 7.98g. Gold sovereigns are 22ct (91.67% gold), containing 7.32g of pure gold. Gold sovereigns are predominantly produced by the Royal Mint in London; they have also been made in Australia, Canada, India, and South Africa. Most London-made sovereigns feature the reverse design of St. George slaying the dragon, designed by Benedetto Pistrucci, while some commemorative years have different designs. Gold sovereigns are among the most widely traded bullion coins globally. Our pre-owned Sovereigns are the most popular choice for first-time investors. We have a range of full and Half Sovereigns struck in 22-carat gold available. Our best value coins will be randomly selected from a variety of years. These coins will be sold based solely on their bullion value, rather than any collector value. Please note these are circulated coins and may show minor scratches, which do not affect their value as bullion.
