Description
The 2024 half sovereign returns to Benedetto Pistrucci’s iconic St George and the dragon design, accompanied by the official coinage portrait of His Majesty King Charles III.
First produced on behalf of Henry VII in 1489, The Sovereign has always had an association with the British monarchy. Often referred to as the ‘chief coin in the world’, this flagship coin has international appeal and each bullion coin produced by The Royal Mint undergoes a rigorous testing process to ensure investors can collect with confidence.
As with previous years of the half sovereign, this year’s half sovereign is struck in 22-carat (91.67% pure gold) and has a weight of 3.99g. The obverse of the 2024 half sovereign features the Uncrowned portrait of King Charles III, with the legend surrounding it. The reverse features St. George on horseback slaying the dragon, with the date and designer’s initials in the exergue.
