Description
The 1/4oz Australian Gold Nugget coin, also known as the Kangaroo coin, was introduced in 1986 by the Perth Mint. Initially, the reverse design featured various Australian gold nuggets, leading to its nickname as the “Gold Nugget”. In 1989, the design changed to a kangaroo, a more internationally recognised symbol of Australia. The coins are legal tender in Australia and are a popular bullion coin, often sought after by both collectors and investors.
Each coin is struck with 24-carat gold (99.99% pure gold) with a weight of 7.78g and has a face value of 25 Australian Dollars.
