The 2014 Britannia 1/40oz Gold Proof Coin is a highly collectible, miniature legal tender coin manufactured by The Royal Mint. Released as part of special configurations—often associated with “The Changing Face of Britain” presentation sets—this coin marks the first year the Royal Mint issued a fractional one-fortieth ounce gold denomination. This 1/40oz gold coin has a purity of 99.99% and weighs 0.8g.
The obverse features the fourth definitive coinage portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. The initials IRB are visible under the neck truncation. Whilst the reverse features a unique profile interpretation of Britannia wearing a crested Corinthian-style helmet with a lion guarding at her feet, crafted by renowned engraver Jody Clark.
