This 1872 full sovereign is a historic gold coin minted during the reign of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom from 1838 to 1887. The coin was introduced in 1838, just one year after Victoria ascended to the throne, and it features a portrait of the young queen on the obverse side. The reverse side of the coin features an image of St. George slaying the dragon. The 1872 sovereign is struck in 22-carat gold and weighs 7.98 grams.
